Sugar Free Syrup
To make the recipes below sugar free use the sugar substitute of your choice.
We like Sweet’N Low. My Mom likes the keto friendly Stevia.
Please note the serving size of your sugar substitute compared to sugar.
Vanilla Syrup
This was the first syrup I made. It’s simple, easy, and delicious!
Equal Parts Water + Sugar or Substitute + Vanilla
1 cup water
1 cup sugar (or sugar substitute)
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Add water to saucepan.
- Bring to boil
- Add Sugar
- Whisk
- Simmer 10 Minutes
- Add Vanilla
- Whisk Again
- Turn off heat and leave to cool. The longer you leave to rest, the more flavorful your syrup will be.
- Use funnel to add syrup to storage bottle or jar.
- Refrigerate
I’ve been making this syrup weekly. I found a great vanilla extract blend on Amazon. I make mine sugar free using Sweet’N Low bulk.
Salted Caramel Syrup
Sometimes vanilla just isn’t exciting enough. Enter the DIY Salted Caramel Syrup.
Water + Sugar or Substitute + Vanilla + Maple Syrup
3 cups water
1 1/2 cup sugar (or sugar substitute)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon maple syrup
1 teaspoon sea salt
Instructions
- Add 1 1/2 cups water to saucepan.
- Bring to boil
- Add Sugar
- Whisk
- Simmer until amber brown – about 20 minutes
- When the caramel is almost done, heat the remaining water
- Lower heat and carefully add hot water to caramel
- Add Vanilla + Maple Syrup + Sea Salt
- Whisk until salt is dissolved
- Turn off heat and leave to cool. The longer you leave to rest, the more flavorful your syrup will be.
- Use funnel to add syrup to storage bottle or jar.
- Refrigerate
How to Store Your Syrup
I store my syrup in Glass Swing Top Bottles. I like that I can better control the pour from these bottles. You can certainly use whatever you have, like a mason jar or old water bottle, to store your DIY syrup. Syrup stores well in fridge for a week.
Add to Your Favorite Coffee & Enjoy!
My favorite coffee is cold brew. I LOVE this Glass Cold Brew Pitcher. It’s around $10. It fits into the door of the fridge. The reusable filter is easy to clean. It makes at home cold brew coffee easier than ever!

Yum! Looks so good. It’s important to remember not to “drink” your calories all day and a swap like this is perfect for that. Thanks for sharing. – Danielle
